Guess Miss Bollywood, Shilpa Shetty has the right idea with her musical because now we hear that Mira Nair’s ‘Monsoon Wedding’ is heading to Broadway. The award winning director’s film is the first Indian movie to be adapted as a musical and is also expected to star two big B-Town stars whose names are being finalized right now. Hmm… might we add a suggestion? How about smoking hot babe, Priyanka Chopra, the girl can sing, act and dance… what more could you ask for? So the three-act stage version of ‘Monsoon Wedding’ will be directed by Mira herself and will have the brilliant guys who put together the Hairspray musical in 2002. Mira has been quoted as saying that she would use some of the old popular numbers from the film but would need to make sure they suited the stage as well. So for all those who loved the film make sure you keep track of this one coz it’s sure going to be a fun one – but then which Punjabi wedding isn’t!!??

After becoming UK’s never ending toast by winning Celebrity Big Brother, it seems Shilpa’s musical, ‘Miss Bollywood’ has come to an end for now. After having toured a total of 16 European cities across Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and UK in the last two-and-a-half months, Shilpa returned to London to perform the final act at the Royal Albert Hall. Joining the collection of celebrity perfumes is the spicy and sensuous Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty. S2, cleverly pronounced ‘S Square’ and reflecting her initials, is the name of Shilpa’s sumptuous scent. Dale Bhagwagar, Shilpa’s publicist stated, “Shilpa has come to be the fragrance of this season and its going to last”. Shetty launched her perfume at a hotel in central London and said she wanted it to “reflect my Indian Heritage.” She also added that the perfume “is truly unique because we have an amalgam of jasmine and citrus and it’s a very strong ethnic aroma.” AMALGAM – I wonder who taught her that word. Shilpa’s plans don’t stop here. There are talks about a cookery book, a DVD on yoga and even launching a chain of restaurants abroad! As for the cooking book…I doubt directions on microwaving frozen foods will sell too fast…

Even though it’s been a massive year in terms of popularity for B-Town babe Shilpa Shetty she’s lost NDTV’s ‘Indian of the Year’ award to another South Indian star, Rajnikanth! What did Rajni do to deserve the award? Well he had a huge hit flick, ‘Sivaji’ while Shilpa made her presence felt in ‘Big Brother,’ ‘Miss Bollywood,’ not to mention that whole Richard Gere kiss scandal. Shilpa’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar said, “Shilpa has only been an achiever, while Rajnikanth has been a great performer. Shilpa has emerged the most famous Indian in UK.
