'Miss Bollywood' – A Copy Cat?

If the initial technical glitches weren’t enough, Shilpa Shetty’s musical ‘Miss Bollywood’ is in a controversy once again. The actress and her organizers are being accused by by ace choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and producer Mark Brady of ripping of their ‘Merchants of Bollywood’ musical.

Vaibhavi says that Shilpa’s ‘Miss Bollywood’ bears a lot of similarity to her three year old musical which is set to begin its fourth world tour in less than a fortnight. Vaibhavi has claimed that Mohammed Morani, the organizer and producer of Shilpa’s show has seen The Merchants of Bollywood and has used the same concept and idea.

‘The Merchants of Bollywood’ is the story of Ayesha, who rebels against her family of classical dancers to step into Bollywood while ‘Miss Bollywood’ follows the life of a young choreographer played by Shilpa who struggles to establish her career in the UK. The fact that the two theatrical productions are touring at the same time has increased competition. Starting from Germany, Miss Bollywood is now traveling across Europe while ‘The Merchant’s of Bollywood’ will open its third leg in November.
